Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

  2. Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions and drain.
  3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Stir in the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add milk and heavy cream, whisking until thickened (3-5 minutes).
  6. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Combine the cheese sauce with cooked macaroni, mixing well.
  8. Transfer to a greased baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.

  10. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

Try using freshly grated cheese for a creamier sauce and feel free to customize with cooked bacon or spinach for added flavor.
