Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Pork
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 can (14 oz) Canned Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian Herbs (Oregano and Basil)
  • 1 tsp Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add meatballs in a single layer, and brown for about 4–5 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove the browned meatballs and pour in the canned tomatoes along with Italian herbs, stir and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Return the meatballs to the sauce and let simmer gently for 15–20 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve over pasta, polenta, or rice, garnished with parsley and grated Parmesan.

Notes

You can make meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze for later use.
