Enjoy tender Mediterranean meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 1 lb Ground Beef or Pork
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 large Egg
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 can (14 oz) Canned Tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian Herbs (Oregano and Basil)
- 1 tsp Sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add meatballs in a single layer, and brown for about 4–5 minutes on each side.
- Remove the browned meatballs and pour in the canned tomatoes along with Italian herbs, stir and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Return the meatballs to the sauce and let simmer gently for 15–20 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve over pasta, polenta, or rice, garnished with parsley and grated Parmesan.
Notes
You can make meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze for later use.
