Description
A nostalgic comfort dish bringing together miniature pasta and savory meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- 1 cup of pasta (elbow macaroni or miniature spaghetti)
- 1 pound of ground beef or turkey
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 cup of water
- Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, add the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until just blended, then form into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pot in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for 5-7 minutes until they are browned all over.
- Create the Sauce: Pour in the tomato sauce and water. Stir gently to combine, bringing the mixture to a simmer. The meatballs will finish cooking here, infusing the sauce with their savory goodness.
- Add the Pasta: Stir in the pasta of your choice. Cover the pot and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until the pasta is tender and glowing with sauce.
- Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the delicious concoction into bowls and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot, and watch as everyone dives in with excitement!
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the meatballs a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator. Cooking alternatives: Air fry or bake the meatballs if preferred.
