Description

A nostalgic comfort dish bringing together miniature pasta and savory meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of pasta (elbow macaroni or miniature spaghetti)
  • 1 pound of ground beef or turkey
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, add the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until just blended, then form into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pot in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for 5-7 minutes until they are browned all over.
  3. Create the Sauce: Pour in the tomato sauce and water. Stir gently to combine, bringing the mixture to a simmer. The meatballs will finish cooking here, infusing the sauce with their savory goodness.
  4. Add the Pasta: Stir in the pasta of your choice. Cover the pot and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until the pasta is tender and glowing with sauce.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the delicious concoction into bowls and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot, and watch as everyone dives in with excitement!

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the meatballs a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator. Cooking alternatives: Air fry or bake the meatballs if preferred.
