Description

Delightful sugar cookie bars topped with creamy cream cheese frosting, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set it aside.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar using a mixer until light and fluffy—about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges. Insert a toothpick in the middle; it should come out clean.
  8. Prepare the frosting by beating together cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  9. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy.
  10. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and cut into squares.

Notes

These cookie bars can be made a day in advance. Store tightly wrapped at room temperature.
