Description

Juicy and flavorful grilled turkey meatballs paired with a refreshing yogurt sauce, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean recommended)
  • 1 small sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 to 7 medium garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup shelled pistachios, coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup fresh dill (small bundle)
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint (small bundle)
  • 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp avocado or olive oil (for grilling)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 to 4 medium garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • Zest from 1 large lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste (for yogurt sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, crushed pistachios, breadcrumbs, dill, mint, sea salt, black pepper, coriander, and cumin. Use your hands to mix gently; be careful not to overwork the mixture.
  2. Shape the mixture into roughly 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the meatballs on the grill, leaving space between each ball. Grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, until golden-brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. While grilling, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing yogurt, minced garlic, mint, dill, lemon zest, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  6. Serve the meatballs warm with the yogurt sauce on the side.

Notes

You can prepare the meatballs in advance and store them in the refrigerator for up to three days. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
