Description

A warm and comforting dish that combines the rich flavors of French toast in a convenient casserole form, perfect for brunch or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh fruits (for topping, e.g., berries, bananas)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cut the bread into cubes, about one inch in size, and place them evenly in the baking dish.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, gently pressing them down.
  6. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Top with fresh fruits just before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use stale bread and allow it to soak for an extended period. Customize toppings based on preference.
