- 1/2 cup (2 oz) shredded provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup (1 oz) grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: 1/4 cup (1 oz) shredded mild cheddar or Monterey Jack
- 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 1/4 cup mini beef pepperoni slices
- Optional vegetables (2 tbsp finely diced bell peppers, 2 tbsp finely diced red onion, or 2 tbsp sliced black olives)
- 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped or dried oregano
- Optional protein (1 tbsp cooked beef sausage or finely diced mushrooms)
- 4–6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- Optional: 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- Additional marinara sauce, for dipping
- Optional: Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare ingredients by softening the butter and grating the cheeses.
- Assemble the sandwiches by spreading butter on one side of the bread and layering cheese and toppings.
- Grill the sandwiches in a preheated skillet over medium-low heat for about 10-15 minutes total, flipping carefully.
- Rest the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes before slicing and serving with marinara.
