Description

This Korean-inspired cheesesteak combines marinated beef, crunchy vegetables, and tangy kimchi, all nestled in a toasted hoagie roll and topped with melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup kimchi, chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • Optional: minced garlic and sugar for marinade

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef sirloin, onion, and bell peppers thinly with a sharp knife.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and optional minced garlic and sugar. Marinate the sliced beef for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté the onions and bell peppers for about 5 minutes.
  4. Push the veggies aside and cook the marinated beef until browned, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
  5. Mix in chopped kimchi and heat for another 2 minutes.
  6. Toast hoagie rolls, then fill them with the bulgogi mixture and top with cheese. Broil for about 2 minutes until cheese is melted.

Notes

Make ahead the beef marinade the night before for deeper flavors. Customize with additional ingredients like jalapeños for a spicy kick.
