Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup beef broth
- 1 package (1 lb) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Cold water as needed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, diced onions, and minced garlic, cooking until the beef browns and onions become translucent.
- Stir in the spices: thyme, allspice, cayenne, salt, pepper, and beef broth. Allow the mixture to simmer gently to thicken.
- Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cold water gradually, mixing until a cohesive dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into circles using a cookie cutter.
- Fill each circle with a spoonful of the beef mixture, fold the dough over, and seal the edges.
- Arrange the patties on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm, on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For flakier crust, use chilled ingredients. Prepare filling in advance for best flavor.
