Description

A delicious fusion of classic Philly cheesesteak flavors and the comfort of sloppy joes, served in a toasted brioche bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 small green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or white American cheese
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns (toasted)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Extra provolone or cheddar cheese slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Allow it to brown for about 5 minutes, then drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Toss in the finely chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions soften and become translucent.
  3. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
  4. In a separate saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until you create a roux. Gradually pour in the warm milk, whisking until smooth. Stir in the shredded cheese.
  5. Spread butter inside each bun, then toast them in a hot pan for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the toasted bun, spoon the beef mixture inside, and drizzle the cheese sauce over the top.
  7. Enjoy your creation while it’s hot, paired with side dishes like fries or salad.
