Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of French Onion Beef Sloppy Joes, featuring savory beef, sweet caramelized onions, and melted Swiss cheese layered in a toasted bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sandwich buns, lightly toasted
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, and drain excess fat.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Toast the sandwich buns until golden and crisp.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with shredded Swiss cheese.
  6. Place under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef. Can also use gluten-free buns.
