Description

A luxurious blend of creamy macaroni and rich brisket, topped with crispy onions for a comforting and hearty dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb macaroni
  • 4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb cooked brisket, shredded
  • 1 cup fried onion strings
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, ensuring it remains slightly firm (al dente) then drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, cooking for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Add in the sour cream, salt, and pepper; mix well to incorporate all flavors.
  6. Gently combine cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce.
  7. In a baking dish, layer half of the mac and cheese, followed by the shredded brisket, then the remaining mac and cheese.
  8. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the top and sprinkle with fried onion strings.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.
