- 1 package of puff pastry sheets
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the filling by combining blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut the rolled pastry into 4-inch squares.
- Fill each square with a spoonful of the blackberry mixture.
- Assemble the turnovers by folding the pastry squares over into triangles and sealing the edges.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead by preparing the filling in advance. Use frozen blackberries as an alternative to fresh.
